Density-Diffusion Relationship in Soda-Lime Phosphosilicate

چکیده
Bioactive glasses release ions such as sodium when implanted in the human body. However, an excess of released can cause problems related to cytotoxicity. The ion control is considered one primary challenges developing new bioactive glasses. Here, we use molecular dynamics simulations investigate effect density on atoms’ archetypal phosphosilicate system. diffusion coefficient displays three main regimes with increasing density. mobility modifiers significantly affected by increase density, especially Na, compared other elements. The effect of phosphate content on the bioactivity of soda-lime-phosphosilicate glasses.
We report on the bioactivity of two series of glasses in the SiO(2)-Na(2)O-CaO-P(2)O(5) system after immersion in simulated body fluid (SBF) after 21 days. The effect of P(2)O(5) content was examined for compositions containing 0-9.25 mol.% phosphate. Both series of glasses degraded to basic pH, but the solutions tended towards to neutrality with increasing phosphate content; a result of the ac...
متن کاملTrends in Effective Diffusion Coefficients for Ion-Exchange Strengthening of Soda-Lime-Silicate Glasses
Monovalent cations enable efficient ion-exchange processes due to their high mobility in silicate glasses. Numerous properties can be modified in this way, e.g., mechanical, optical, electrical, or chemical performance. In particular, alkali cation exchange has received significant attention, primarily with respect to introducing compressive stress into the surface region of a glass, which incr...

NON NOSCERE" continues to be one of the most important aphorisms—if not the most important of all—in contemporary medicine and anaesthetists should never ignore it. The use of elaborate anaesthetic technique entails correlated dangers, which can only be counteracted by minute and profound knowledge of the situation created. Under this heading comes closed circuit respiration, which to-day is so...
متن کاملResidual stresses in a soda-lime-silica glass-ceramic
The present study was undertaken to test the validity of existing models for: (i) the residual internal stresses which arise due to thermal and elastic mismatch in duplex systems; and (ii) the critical particle diameter for spontaneous cracking. The specimens studied were bulk nucleated, partially crystallized 17.20Na,0-32.09Ca0-4.12Si0,-2.59P,O, (mol%) glasses. The residual stress was determin...
متن کاملDry soda lime markedly degrades sevoflurane during simulated inhalation induction.
We have investigated gas composition during simulated inhalation induction with sevoflurane to elucidate possible mechanisms of incidental prolonged induction times and airway irritation. Using a circle system, 8% sevoflurane in oxygen 6 litre min-1 was washed into an absorbing canister filled with fresh soda lime containing 2.9% KOH (Draegersorb, 'D') or no KOH (< 0.01%, Sofnolime, 'S'). The a...
